STEM is introducing following criteria for its MEMBER to be a Fellow or Associate of STEM

FELLOW STEM (F-STEM): Applicants should have a minimum of 10 years experience in technology transfer in public or private organizations and demonstrate at least one of the following:

  • The person is currently serving as or has retired at a senior level or equivalent position in technology transfer that has involved licensing within their institution.
  • Published two peer reviewed papers/case study relevant to the technology transfer Profession.
  • Track record of at least two successful licensing agreements, or strategic relationships or collaboration agreements or major equity-financing deals that involved substantial negotiation and structuring with significant financial value.

Declaration

  • They shall set a declaration of continuous engagement in the profession.
  • Securing additional education (STEM Summit participation, publishing a paper will be considered under this).

Special consideration:
A person having only 5 years of experience in technology transfer will be considered as F- Stem only if Governing council consider it necessary after proper review. Applicants need to undergo an evaluation procedure, wherein the governing members will appraise their experience in the field of technology management.

  • The person should present a case study in this regard.
  • Publication of paper to a peer reviewed Journal.

ASSOCIATE STEM (A-STEM): Applicants should have at least any two of the following

  • A person having a diploma or equivalent degree in the field of technology management.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience (directly or indirectly) in the field of technology transfer.
  • Currently employed within a technology management role in public or private sector.

Note: Fellow and Associate membership shall be approved by the Governing Council.

Application for F-STEM / A- STEM
Applicants must submit a letter mentioning their interest in a specific category along with a short CV or biography and necessary supporting documents to application@stemglobal.org
Though many applicants will have experience that far exceeds the minimum requirement, STEM requests its applicants to ensure that satisfaction of these requirements are explicitly stated and highlighted with sufficient corroborative detail. For example:

  • Publication details
  • Detail of some major agreements / initiatives/ courses taught and applicant’s role in its genesis
  • Case Study on successful technology transfer (within 2000 words) summarizing nature of the technology, expertise or asset, role of applicant in protection for intellectual property, role of the applicant in shaping the commercial strategy, and in identification of licensee/partner/investor, and role of applicant in relationship building and negotiation.
